The Clinical Digital Libraries Project (CDLP) is a model for aggregations indexed to save clinicians information seeking time. MacCall (2006) details Web server log activity over a 12 month period from 20 institutions using the CDLP services designed by the schools of library and information studies at the University of Alabama and the University of North Texas. MacCall (2006) clarifies how the results of an exploratory assessment showed that CDLP collections succeeded in timely information seeking for users in medical clinics. This is a significant model showing a future potential in integrating software design for quality digital library collections into electronic medical records through the use of “specific programming interface” (p. 196). This development offers considerable potential for librarians to expand their expertise to DL collections “by using consistently structured deep-linking methods that promote timely use under the time constraints of the clinical environment” (p. 196).
The impressive CDLP DL collection may serve as an adjunct investigation into timely, high-quality linked resources within this proposed study.

This is really interesting. Better searching capability (user friendly ones aimed at the non-tech user) is something it seems libraries need in their digital collections. Models like this are very interesting to look at and would be fun to dissect.
